Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD has officially signed new long-term concession agreements with Lagardere Travel Retail and Gingers to enhance the commercial and culinary landscape at Burgas Airport and Varna Airport. This partnership, which marks a significant step in modernizing the passenger experience, is aimed at offering high-quality retail and food & beverage services to travelers.
The agreements, finalized following a competitive tender process, include the appointment of Lagardere Travel Retail as the Master Retail Concessionaire, responsible for overseeing all landside retail outlets at both airports. In addition, Gingers, the current food and beverage operator, will continue to collaborate with Lagardere Travel Retail to operate food and beverage concessions at various outlets across the airports.
Each agreement, with a seven-year term, will involve substantial investments in renovations, refurbishments, and rebranding of the facilities. This development is part of Fraport Twin Star’s strategy to align the airport experience with the evolving needs of passengers, providing them with a modern, diverse, and high-quality range of shopping and dining options. The renovations are expected to significantly improve the overall passenger journey, bringing a fresh and vibrant atmosphere to both airports.
Speaking about the partnership, Mladen Yordanov, CEO of Lagardere Travel Retail Bulgaria, emphasized that the collaboration with Fraport Twin Star reflects their shared commitment to enhancing passenger experiences at Burgas and Varna Airports. “This collaboration not only underscores our commitment to improve passenger experiences but also emphasizes our dedication to providing a unique blend of international and local offerings. Together, we aim to create vibrant spaces that will truly reflect the charm of Bulgaria,” said Yordanov.
Gergana Grigorova, National Manager of Gingers café chain, also expressed gratitude for the continued partnership with Fraport Twin Star. “We are excited to continue being a partner and believe that our shared dedication to high-quality service and organization will make Varna and Burgas Airports models of efficiency and hospitality,” Grigorova added.
Svetlana Simeonova, Head of Commercial at Fraport Twin Star, shared her excitement about the partnership with Lagardere Travel Retail and Gingers, stating, “These agreements will not only bring leading international and local brands to our airports but also greatly enhance the overall passenger experience.” Renovation works are set to begin soon, with the first rebranded outlets expected to open in time for the summer season.
The new retail and food offerings at Burgas and Varna Airports are designed to provide passengers with an elevated experience, creating a welcoming and efficient environment that reflects the best of both local culture and international standards. This move is part of Fraport Twin Star’s ongoing commitment to investing in the development of both airports, ensuring that they remain modern, efficient, and customer-focused.
